York Science Outreach Centre (YSOC)

YSOC is a facility, housed in the Department of Chemistry, which provides high quality space for activities which motivate and enthuse visitors, young and old, about 21st century science. Operational all year round, it comprises dedicated laboratory space, an instrument/analysis laboratory and preparation room.

With a capacity for up to 100 visitors, it provides space for our STEM departments and the Widening Participation team, to deliver a flexible portfolio of activities suitable for 4-19 year old students and the general public, by invitation.  Schools or colleges wishing to receive relevant YSOC event invitations should contact the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC), Department of Chemistry, who coordinate use of YSOC.
