The University of York's Professor Jean Grugel is the researcher for the project, Integrating secondary quantitative and qualitative datasets for development.
This project is ESRC-funded, and will:
(1) build relationships with NGOs and implementation agencies to discover the extent and quality of secondary quantitative and qualitative data being held
(2) evaluate the potential for developing further co-designed research projects that can increase the impact of these data in realizing benefits to stakeholders and vulnerable groups in low and middle income countries
The project will use a case-study approach and explore research conducted through NGO partnerships in South-East Africa, South Asia and the Caribbean and the the potential uses of NGO data that is being used in research for projects. It asks questions about the value of stakeholder knowledge and the uses - and misuses - that can be made of it.
