The links below provide a structural overview of the various Philosophy degree programmes. The available optional modules for 2025/26 are also listed in the programme details.
Students should also refer to the Philosophy Handbooks for undergraduates for additional information about the Philosophy Department and the joint degree programmes.
Note: Students taking degrees within the School of Philosophy, Politics and Economics, the School of Natural Sciences or the School for Business and Society should consult their own departments for module and programme information.

Requesting Philosophy module changes for S1 modules 2025/26
Students wishing to change a semester 1 optional module for 2025/26 should refer to our Module Changes web pages. Please note that requests will be only be accommodated if there is capacity in the timetabled teaching room, and there are no clashes with your existing timetable.
The deadline for making a module change request for S1 will be 16:00 hours on Friday 3 October 2025.
Elective modules for 2025/26
Students wishing to take an elective module in another department should first check the rules of their degree programme to see if they are allowed to take electives in other departments. The University of York offers Language Electives (YLEs), Interdisciplinary modules (YIMs) and general elective modules.
