Tired of hearing about the European Union on the news without knowing how it works? Come to our talk to hear everything you need to know!

The EU has changed in many ways since it was created as a steel and coal trading group over 60 years ago. For example, in recent years, European governments have cut their spending to try and improve their budgets after the financial crisis. Researchers at the University of York had a hunch that because of these cuts, the EU may no longer be the green pioneer that it was before the financial crisis. To find out, researcher Dr. Paul Tobin went to the home of the EU, Brussels, where he met with around 50 EU movers and shakers over a two month period.

In this talk, Paul uses his visit to explain all a person needs to know about the European Union. What is the EU actually like? Is it easy to meet someone from the EU? How has the EU responded to this latest crisis? And where is the best place to eat Belgian waffles?
