The Nanocentre currently includes five core tools:

The Nanocentre also has a range of sample preparation tools

Incorporated in the Nanocentre are existing research activities in the Departments of Physics and Electronics in the sphere of magnetic measurements and studies of magnetic materials, existing activities in surface analysis including electron and ion optics and specialist studies of the magneto- optic properties of materials and spin electronic materials and devices. These existing activities will provide access for both fundamental, applied and contract research for magnetic measurements, sputter deposition, MBE growth, X-ray and electron diffraction, magnetoresistance measurements and in particular scanning tunnelling microscopy. Collaborations with several groups in Chemistry are being developed.
