YUSU Teaching Awards 2022

Posted on 20 June 2022

Another success for the department at this year’s YUSU awards

We are delighted to announce that Prof Tamar Keren-Portnoy (Dept. Language and Linguistic Science) is the runner up and highly commended for ‘Teacher of the Year' in this year’s YUSU Excellence Awards 2022. This recognition follows the previous ‘Teacher of the Year’ award won by Dr George Bailey (Lecturer in Phonetics and Phonology, Dept. Language and Linguistic Science) at last year’s YUSU Excellence Awards 2021. This series of teaching awards is a recognition of the outstanding quality of teaching in our department.

The YUSU awards give students the opportunity to show their appreciation of staff across the University, and thank them for their hard work. It is a student-led celebration and one which allows students to recognise those who have had a particularly positive impact on them over the past academic year, whether they are academic or non-academic staff members.

“I am very honoured and proud to have received this recognition from my students. Nothing can make a teacher happier than to hear from their students that their teaching made a difference to them. Thank you!” - Prof Tamar Keren-Portnoy, Department of Language and Linguistic Science
