YUSU Teaching Awards 2021

Posted on 25 June 2021

Another success for the department at this year’s YUSU awards

We are delighted to announce that Dr George Bailey (Lecturer in Phonetics and Phonology, Dept. Language and Linguistic Science) has been awarded ‘Teacher of the Year' in this year’s YUSU Excellence Awards 2021.

These awards give students the opportunity to show their appreciation to staff across the University, and thank them for their hard work. It is a student-led celebration and one which allows students to recognise those who have had a particularly positive impact on them over the past academic year, whether they are academic or non-academic staff members.

“It really means a lot to be recognised in this way. This has obviously been a challenging year for both staff and students but it's so rewarding to hear that students enjoyed my teaching and were able to get such a positive learning experience out of the difficult circumstances. I've been continually impressed with their enthusiasm and engagement over the past year and I'd like to thank them for that, and also thank those who generously took time out to nominate me for this award and write such nice things in their messages!” - Dr George Bailey, Dept Language and Linguistic Science

This year the awards will not be presented at an official award ceremony but winners were revealed over the YUSU social media pages.
