Anxiety and Depression among Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults with Life-Limiting Conditions

Children and young people living with LLCs have been found to experience a multitude of psychological issues. Therefore, the rise in survival of children with these conditions has been coupled with increased psychological morbidity. Although research has been conducted into the relationships between specific LLCs and psychological health, there remains a significant gap in the literature for the analysis of the links between different types of LLCs and their effects on psychological health through the differing risk factors that they present. This PhD project will use a mixed-methods approach to examine the prevalence of psychological illness among children and young people with different LLCs and the risk factors presented by these conditions in an attempt to design appropriate psychological intervention for children and young people living with different types of LLC.
