  • All Students take LAN00081H Linguistic Computations (CORE) 20 credits in S2.
  • One Philosophy or LAN option module may be swapped for an elective or YIMS module.
  • One 20-credit option module in S1 or S2 may be replaced by a YIMS or curated elective.
  • At Stage 3 students may weight their final year as follows:
    60 credits of PHI modules and 60 credits of LAN modules, OR
    80 credits of PHI modules and 40 credits of LAN modules, OR
    40 credits of PHI modules and 80 credits of LAN modules.

  • Students may replace one 20-credit option with a YIM or general elective in either semester.
  • At Stage 2 students will take 60 credits of LAN modules and 60 credits of PHI modules in total ie. 3 LAN modules and 3 PHI modules during the year.

Phil Lang & Cultures

BA Philosophy with Languages and Cultures (with a Year Abroad)

(Available routes: French, German, Spanish and Italian)

Year 3 Abroad

Students will experience the teaching of Philosophy in another linguistic context and philosophical tradition. They will further their linguistic and communication skills in their language of study. To receive a ‘Pass’ for the year abroad, students will be assessed via the fulfilment of their learning agreement and two essays, one per semester, in which they will reflect on their studies and experience of another culture.

Year 4

Rules:

  • Students take 120 credits: 60 credits in each semester.
  • Students must take 40 credits in Language and Cultures modules, and 60 credits in Philosophy.
  • The remaining 20 credits may be taken in either a further Philosophy Option Module or in a curated elective.
