Reliable probabilistic learning and accurate prediction of flooding in the Humber Estuary

EPSRC-funded project UKRI2398, 22 September 2025 to 21 September 2026.

As the PDRA in this project, I work on a new probabilistic learning methodology that allows for the learning of a high-dimensional function, namely, the function that outputs inundation levels at about 1000 locations, as affected by multivariate storm events. We have predicted the flood levels at these locations, when a test storm strikes the Humber estuarine region. This project is a collaboration with the hydrological consultancy HR.Wallingford, and the data is from the Environment Agency.
