I was a student at Durham University, where I received my MMath, my PhD and the Willmore Pure Mathematics Prize. I was unhappy in pure maths and could not see a clear path for my career in that field, so I moved into statistics. This allowed me to work on research in engineering, education, medicine and health economics. My career is summarised below.
My research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Medical Decision Making, Health Technology Assessment, Journal of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Pacific Journal of Mathematics, and Communications in Analysis & Geometry.
Lecturing
I currently lecture three modules:
Previously, I lectured Probability & Statistical Inference at York and five modules at Leeds (Mixed Models with Medical Applications; Linear Regression, Robustness & Smoothing; Statistical Theory & Methods; Learning Skills Through Case Studies; and Survival Analysis).
Supervision
I supervise final-year BSc and MMath projects, including industrial projects related to medical research. Please talk to me if you are interested in such projects.
Supervision
I supervise dissertation projects on two MSc programmes: Statistics & Computational Finance and Data Science (Artificial Intelligence & Statistics). I do not currently offer PhD supervision.
