Martha Thickett

BSc Sociology (Hons), University of Bristol; MA Sexual Dissidence, University of Sussex

I joined York Law School in September 2025 as a postgraduate researcher. I am currently undertaking my WRoCAH-funded Collaborative Doctoral Award between York Law School and the LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing charity LGBT foundation.

My PhD research consists of using arts-based methods to facilitate intergenerational dialogue between members of the LGBTQ+ community in the face of legal changes in the past and present.

I am supervised by Professor Sue Westwood and Professor Ioana Cismas of York Law School, as well as Lawrence Roberts as a representative of LGBT Foundation.
