Academic Reps

Academic Reps are elected by students in their departmental year group to represent the views and interests of students on department committees and within the student union. You can go to them with any concerns or suggestions about how the department or aspects of your course are run.

Academic representation is recruited by York Student Union (York SU) together with the departments of the University. Together, we aim to ensure that students play an essential role in guaranteeing and driving the quality of the academic experience.

If you’d like to represent the views of your fellow students and have a say in how your course is run, why not apply to be a course rep?

As well as academic reps, who are members of the Board of Studies, other student representatives participate in the work of a variety of departmental bodies, through committee activities, and through working with student colleagues to formulate and develop ideas. We will make you aware of the opportunities in due course.
