Two awards in recognition of the quality of our teaching

Marton VC teaching award

Márton Sóskuthy was the recipient of the 2017 Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Award, an accolade announced by Professor John Robinson at July graduation ceremony for Language and Linguistic Science.

Congratulations are due also to our many former students who graduated that day. Well done everyone!

 

2017 excellence awards winners   Excellence Awards

At YUSU's Excellence Awards at the end of the Summer Term, the following members of L&LS staff were recognised for the outstanding contributions they have made to the University's teaching and learning activities:

- Sam Hellmuth was winner of 'Outstanding Feedback' 
- Cathy Dantec was Highly Commended for 'Supporting the Student Voice' 
- Angela O'Flaherty was Highly Commended for 'Most Inspiring'

Kimi Smith (First in BA Linguistics from this department, 2013) is now the full time Student Engagement Development Coordinator for YUSU, organiser of the Excellence Awards and initiator this year of the preceding student-led 'What is Excellence' seminar. Cathy and Sam were both invited to present at the seminar.

Helena Schofield, a L&LS department representative, took part in judging and presenting at the Excellence Awards, and graduated this month with a 2.1 in French and Linguistics (with a Year Abroad).
