Paddling up for York children's charities

Dom Watt (standing in as a reserve for Gem Kirk) donned a cowboy hat, bandana and Dennis Hopper-style false moustache to join the crew of the Humanities Research Centre's team 'Ousey Riders' for the annual York Rotary Dragon Boat races on the River Ouse.

The team, many of whom had never been in a Dragon Boat before, came 24th of 36 teams overall, and raised over £1,700 in the process. Dom also temporarily stepped in as a replacement for a missing crew member on the :Byte Ark team, made up of staff members of :ByteMark Hosting, one of whom - Dr. Kim Witten - is a former PhD student in the Department of Language and Linguistic Science.

Follow this link for more photos of the day's events - the Ousey Riders are featured in images 48, 52, 85, 87 and 88 (click on an image to see its number in the sequence), as well as in the very first image on the page.
