York research showcased at borders-themed conference

Carmen Llamas and Dom Watt gave a paper entitled 'Social meaning of phonetic forms in the Scottish/English border region' at the Borderlands Linguistics Conference at the University of Bristol. The conference, which was sponsored by the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust, was organised by Bristol's Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, and featured a keynote talk on language use and attitudes among the Hispanic community in Miami by Philip Carter of Florida International University.
