UKLVC and PARLAY conferences at York

Posted on 17 September 2015

The Department hosted two international linguistics conferences in September.

The 10th UK Language Variation and Change conference (UKLVC10) was hosted by the Department earlier this month. A three-day programme of talks and posters focussed on variation and change in a broad variety of languages, with delegates travelling from around the world to attend and present on their research. As one of the founders of the UKLVC biennial conference series, Prof. Paul Kerswill was invited to give a keynote paper, as was Prof. Lesley Milroy, who is one of the Department's Visiting Professors. Further information about the conference is available here.

The third Postgraduate Academic Researchers in Linguistics at York (PARLAY) conference took place at the Humanities Research Centre on September 11th. Papers and posters on a diversity of themes were presented by postgraduate students from York and around the UK, and even from Finland. Further information about the PARLAY series is available at this link.
