Alumni Event 2012

Posted on 7 March 2012

Former students share careers advice with current students.

A wide range of career paths are open to graduates in Language and Linguistic Science. Our 2012 Alumni Event (2nd March) brought former students of the Department - who graduated as long ago as 1976 and as recently as 2011 - back to York to meet with current students.

They shared advice and experience from diverse professional fields:

  • publishing
  • teaching
  • HR management
  • translation and interpreting
  • communications and outreach/marketing
  • graduate trainee programmes and postgraduate study
  • linguistic research

The event was held in the Berrick Saul HRC building, with a panel session followed by networking in the Treehouse room (pictured above).

See our careers pages for video clips of alumni offering their reflections on the transferable skills acquired from study of language and linguistics.
