Past and future students meet

Posted on 24 June 2011

The Department was delighted to host four visits by sixth form students of English Language this week, with over 70 students coming to campus. But these were not just random visits – in every case there was a personal link with a past or present student of our Department.

Jill Lavender and Chloe Dolphin, alumni of our Department who teach locally in York, brought their Year 12 students from Fulford School. Jan Warwick, who studied MA Linguistics with us, brought French and German and English Language students from Longley Park Sixth Form College, Sheffield (with thanks to Steve Schofield for organising the visit). Finally, current first year students in the Department who themselves studied at John Leggott College, Scunthorpe, welcomed a group of current Year 12 John Leggott students (see picture). All of the groups enjoyed a programme of talks created and delivered by current undergraduate students in the Department as part of a volunteering project.
