Capacity building
Funding bodies have drawn attention to the underrepresentation of researchers from underserved groups working in health and care research. There is an urgent national need to build capacity in this area, highlighted in the NIHR Diversity Reports 2021 and 2022, and by the Wellcome Trust. [add links]
Our work aligns with all the major health and care research funders in the UK, as well as the University of York EDI strategy. One of our key goals is capacity building through funding for Masters and PhD studentships, fellowships, and small grant funding for researchers from underrepresented groups, conducting research with underserved communities.
