Biography

Doctor Ahmad Salman is a cardiology prevention and rehabilitation specialist in the Cardiac Diseases Center in Kuwait. He is responsible for providing evidence-based physical activity advice and managing intervention programmes for patients at risk of, or suffering from, a variety of cardiovascular disorders. Ahmad's prior experience includes working as a junior practitioner, a clinical trainee in the Ministry of Health of Kuwait, in medical departments, as well as running the phase IV clinic at Essex University, UK. Ahmad came to the University of York in January 2015 to begin his PhD in the field of cardiac care, supervised by Professor Patrick Doherty.

Qualifications

  • MSc. Cardiac rehabilitation (UK, 2014)
  • Successfully completed “Physical Assessment Course” by McGill-Kuwait Cardiovascular Redevelopment Project 
  • Passed Basic Life Support (BLS) Course by the American Heart Association 
  • Successfully completed the ECG and Pharmacology Course by the American Heart Association 
  • Successfully completed “Vascular Access and Safe Injection” Conducted by: Kuwait Medical Association Training Center
  • Passed Advanced First Aid Course by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society
  • BSc. (Hons) Health Sciences (Kuwait, 2011)

Research

Overview

Ahmad has an interest in cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation, patient self-management approaches in chronic disease.
