Biography

Jo joined the York Trials in November 2023 to lead the patient and public involvement in the NIHR Research Support Services. Previously Jo has held public involvement roles in NIHR research organisations (Research Design Service SW, PenCLAHRC) and was a Wellcome Trust Engaged Research Fellow in the Centre for Biomedical Modelling and Analysis also at Exeter.

Overview

Jo’s research interests centre on developing ways of working with groups and communities currently underserved by research. She is also keen to raise awareness of the complexity of the role of the PPI professional. This includes identifying and implementing appropriate training, support and supervision for PPI leads in a rapidly evolving research landscape.

  • “Finding common ground”- Developing ways of working with underserved communities to facilitate their involvement in research design and delivery.
