Claire Carswell is a Research Associate within the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group, currently working on the Diabetes and Mental Illness Improving Services and Outcomes (DIAMONDS) team.
Claire’s research focuses on the relationship between physical and mental health. She is a registered Mental Health Nurse and her PhD research focused on developing an arts-based intervention for patients with end-stage kidney disease whilst receiving haemodialysis, and exploring the feasibility of a cluster randomised controlled trial.
Claire is particularly interested in the application of trial methodology in the evaluation of complex interventions, and promoting patient and public involvement in research.
Claire’s research interests relate to the intersection between mental and physical health, and the development and evaluation of complex interventions to address comorbidity. She is also interested mixed methods research, particularly in relation to the development of interventions and trial methodology.
