What has it been like being a teacher in England during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Wednesday 10 November 2021, 1.00PM to 2.00pm

Speaker(s): Dr Lisa Kim, Psychology in Education Research Centre

Schools in England closed to most pupils on 20 March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, teachers have continued to teach and look after the welfare of their pupils as schools have reopened and closed to various extents at different times. Funded by an ESRC IAA grant, Dr Lisa Kim and Professor Kathryn Asbury have been conducting a longitudinal qualitative study called “Being a teacher in England during the COVID-19 pandemic”. The aim of the project is to understand what it has been like for primary and secondary teachers in England throughout the pandemic, and how various aspects of their professional lives may have been affected by COVID-19. The findings from the project so far will be discussed in this seminar.
