Wednesday 26 February 2014, 3.00PM to 4:30pm
Speaker(s): Professor Louise Archer, Department of Education and Professional Studies, King's College London
The seminar will be held from 3.30pm to 4.30pm with refreshments from 3.00pm.
The University of York Science Education Group invites you to its seminar series.
Professor Archer is the Principal Investigator of the ASPIRES project, a five year longitudinal study, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of their Targeted Initiative on Science and Mathematics Education (TISME).
One of the main objectives of the project is to investigate some of the factors influencing the educational choices made by children in the 10-14 age group. Particular interest focuses on the influence of peers, parents and schools, and on the role gender, class and ethnicity play in shaping these choices. A second component of the project is to work with teachers and other experts on an intervention that is helping develop strategies for teaching about science-based careers in Key Stage 3.
The event is free but booking is required as seating is limited. E-tickets are now available at https://uyseg-seminar-series.eventbrite.co.uk if you wish to attend.
