Conversion Narratives at the RSA

Posted on 12 August 2011

'Conversion Narratives in Early Modern Europe' will be sponsoring four panels at next year's Renaissance Society of America conference in Washington, D. C.

The panels, organised in collaboration with the Folger Institute, will bring together seventeen scholars to discuss the politics and poetics of conversion narratives, with a particular emphasis on place, space, and the material text. The papers address a broad range of texts and topics, from sermons at Paul's Cross in London to the Catholic Counter-Reformations of Spain and Italy, and from John Bunyan's spiritual journey, Grace abounding to the chief of sinners, to James Wadsworth's lively physical travels in The English Spanish pilgrime.

A provisional programme will be available from the RSA in September. For further details of the panels please read the abstracts here: RSA panels (PDF , 99kb)
