Director of York Biomedical Research Institute appointed

Professor Jeremy Mottram (Chair in Pathogen Biology, Department of Biology) has been appointed as Founding Director of the York Biomedical Research Institute (YBRI) from 1 May 2018.

Professor Mottram was recruited to York in 2016 from the University of Glasgow, where he was Professor of Molecular and Cellular Parasitology and Dean of Graduate Studies.

His research focuses on the biology of protozoan parasites that cause neglected tropical diseases, including leishmaniasis and human african trypanosomiasis.

Professor Mottram will lead on the establishment of YBRI, a new cross-departmental initiative set up to expand and consolidate York's international expertise in biomedical research within the University.
