Cleaning superviser role

Main responsibilities

  • To supervise a team of cleaning staff, ensuring that consistent, high standards of cleaning are achieved and the service provided meets Service Level Agreements
  • To allocate and organise staff within the team to cover for sickness, leave and vacancies
  • To provide on-the-job training for staff in all aspects of cleaning, to include undertaking toolbox talks and training on cleaning methods, chemicals and equipment
  • To undertake Health and Safety induction and provide on-the-job training
  • To monitor performance and investigate where performance is not to standard, discussing the situation with the individual and referring to the Cleaning Manager to agree the next steps

Qualifications and experience

  • Essential: GCSEs, or equivalent, in Maths and English. Cleaning experience. Supervisory experience. Experience of demonstrating good practice and encouraging others to follow.
  • Desirable: BISCs Certificate. Windows-based systems.

  • Essential: Ability to demonstrate good practice and encourage others to follow. Customer care skills and a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with teams of staff. Customer service skills to enable dialogue and interaction with staff, students and conference guests. Ability to multi-task. Ability to organise the work activity of a team, and to allocate and delegate work appropriately
  • Desirable. Basic IT skills to include email and Word
