Rapid response assistant role

Main responsibilities

  • Provide a rapid response cleaning service to all areas of University premises
  • Carry out planned deep-cleaning work across the campus, including the use of specialised equipment and working from heights
  • Undertake regular scheduled hygiene checks on washroom facilities
  • Undertake key management duties in residential areas, including updating records, issuing and collection and ordering of replacement and new locks
  • Move furnishings such as beds, desks and white goods across the estate
  • Respond to emergency situations such as flooding, including the use of specialised equipment

Qualifications and experience

  • Essential: GCSE or equivalent education. Experience working in a similar post.
  • Desirable: British Institute of Cleaning Service (BICS) Mandatory Unit Level 1-3. Working Safely Certificate. Background in building trade or maintenance role.

Skills

  • Essential: A general understanding of cleaning materials, equipment and procedures. Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Able to carry out significant manual handling duties such as using heavy floor cleaning machinery. Able to undertake cleaning tasks working at heights. Able to multi-task.
  • Desirable. Customer Care Certificate. Basic IT skills required, including email and database use. Ability to write outline reports on outstanding maintenance issues.
