The Press Office promotes the University, its staff, and their work to the wider public through the media.
We are the public face of the University in dealing with good news and bad.
We also provide guidance and training to staff on media interviews.
The media is more diverse now than it has ever been and that offers the University a wide range of opportunities for raising its profile by generating media coverage.
We draft all University press releases, record podcasts, take pictures, produce statements and generate web pages for the media. We also offer advice on how you should approach interviews with journalists to ensure you get your message across accurately, concisely and with impact.
Broadcast-quality line
We have an ISDN line for broadcast-quality radio interviews, which eliminates the need for staff to travel to radio stations either in York or further afield. The line is available for use during normal office hours, and outside those times by special arrangement. Training on the use of the line is provided.
If you're a member of staff who would like to use the ISDN line, please contact the Press Office on 01904 432029 to check availability.
