Academic Biography

I qualified as a social worker in 2003, and I have spent most of my social work career working with children and adults who have physical and learning needs.

Social work in this field primarily involves direct work with individuals, but also requires work with wider society to address social structures and influences in order to improve life experience. Having seen the challenges faced by those that I work with, I am enthusiastic about the need for social justice and equality.

I joined the department of Social Policy and Social Work in 2013.

• BA (hons) Business & Management at Leeds Met University 2012
• Practice Educator Award 2008
• MSc Applied Social Work at Oxford University 2003
• BA (hons) Biblical Studies & Philosophy at Sheffield University 1999

I am involved in various aspects of the Social Work course including:

• Social policy
• Health & Disability
• Practice Education
