Celebrating with our new graduates in the Department of Sociology

After the formal Graduation Ceremony in Central Hall on Friday 14 July 2017, the Department of Sociology held a drinks Reception, to which all graduates and their guests were invited.  Held in Wentworth College, students, friends, family, administrative and academic staff, all gathered to celebrate the successes of our undergraduate cohort. Professor Paul Johnson, Head of Department (pictured) was delighted to present the following students with their well-deserved prizes:

Anne-Marie Byrne: Department of Sociology Best Overall Degree Performance 2017 (awarded in absentia).

Anne-Marie Byrne: Lynn Kilgallon Dissertation Prize 2017 (Title: A conceptual engagement with slow movements, and ‘slow’: Illuminating undergraduate precarity, and inequality in the context of contemporary British higher education) (awarded in absentia).

Fay Wileman: Lynn Kilgallon Dissertation Prize 2017 (Title: A Critical Evaluation of the Ongoing Political and Academic Debate about the Age of Criminal Responsibility in England and Wales).

Sergen Aksoz: Lynn Kilgallon Dissertation Prize 2017 (Title: White fetishism and the effects of systemic violence: A study on colourism through East Asian beauty practises).
