SPSW Public Lecture - 21st Century welfare: a story of lone mothers, work and family

Speaker(s): Professor Jane Millar, OBE, FBA, FaCSS, FRSA, University of Bath.

The Department has invited Jane Millar, SPSW Alumnus, where she did her PhD and was also a member of SPRU, to deliver this first public lecture of the new series.

Professor Millar is an eminent social scientist with over 70 books and journal articles to her name.

She has worked on numerous research projects for the ESRC, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and other significant bodies, and is internationally known for her research on families, lone parents and social security.

Jane has been Special Advisor to House of Commons Select Committees, the Department of Work and Pensions, and the Number 10 Policy Unit. She is currently Chair of the UK Social Policy Association.

There will be a drink reception afterwards.
