More about mentoring

Next Steps

To get the most out of mentoring, you need to look back as well as forward. Set aside time with your mentor every 3–6 months to review your progress.

Review your progress

Throughout your mentoring experience, it’s important that you review your progress and celebrate your achievements.

  • How have you developed
  • Have your career ideas changed?
  • What are your next steps?

There is no cut-off date for a mentoring relationship but we find that most last at least 10 weeks, with some even continuing for many months and years. If you or your mentor decide to end the relationship, it may be beneficial to provide feedback how the dynamic worked and if there’s any aspects you particularly enjoyed or could work on.
