My advice to students considering work
Stay determined, focus on studies while keeping an open mind about the future and the various opportunities available after graduation.
My advice about working in my industry
While remaining focussed on academic studies, spend some time learning new skills too - these will be essential. Success in the heritage industry requires dynamism and the ability to work with things like people and technology too.
Other advice
There are opportunities out there but in today's global job market the heritage industry is competitive. Stay focussed and be professional.

Volunteering Officer for Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland with The Churches Conservation Trust. Recruiting, supporting and training volunteers who protect historic churches no longer needed for worship.

People management, training, conflict-resolution, statistics, planning, visitor/customer-welcome, information-technology.

Role is varied and responsibility for some of the UK's most historically significant heritage sites.
