The Department of Psychology at the University of York is among the world's top 100 psychology departments (QS World Rankings by Subject 2022). It has an international reputation for excellence both in teaching and research. About one sixth of our undergraduates come from overseas and we are particularly proud of our special provisions for overseas students.
In 2015, for example, eight international students gained 1st-class Honours Degrees in Psychology, finishing with some of the highest marks in their year group. We are delighted that, in a class of almost two hundred, 40 of those who graduated with BSc Honours Degrees were international students.
We offer a 3-year, fully accredited BSc degree course in Psychology and also a 4-year course which includes a year of study at masters level leading to the award of a Master of Science (Psychology) degree. The two courses are the same in the first two years. Initially, all students enrol in the BSc course. In the Spring Term of their second year they decide whether to remain in the BSc course for their third year or to switch to the MSci course for their third and fourth years.
