Activating gender gaps: the role of party campaigning in shaping gendered patterns of party support
Dr Anna Sanders's main research interests relate to gender and voting behaviour. She is currently collaborating with researchers at the universities of Manchester, Oxford and King's College London on a project examining gendered patterns of party support in the UK and comparatively. The first working paper examines gender-age gaps in vote choice at the 2024 UK General Election, and how they vary depending on which parties are campaigning in the constituency. In doing so, it draws on British Election Study Internet Panel data and finds that gender gaps in party support vary by the local electoral context and the extent of party campaigning on the ground. The second working paper examines the role of party campaigning in shaping gendered patterns of party support in comparative context.
