Events

Quiz Night

Monday 31st January 7pm, D/L/006

PolSoc are organising a Quiz Night in collaboration with York Global Affairs. Different societies are competing and everyone is welcome to witness the spectacle.

Socrates Cafe

Monday 31st January 6.30 pm, Ippuku Tea House

York Student Think Tank hosts a weekly club at the beautiful Ippuku Tea House in town. Join to chat over drinks and talk politics, science, philosophy and all that good stuff. Anyone's welcome to join.

LGBTQI+ event: The Present as a Dimension of a Non-Linear Future

Wednesday 2nd February 4pm, online

As part of the LGBTQI+ month, this talk discusses how queer futures can be thought of beyond progress narratives and their accompanying institutional structures. It engages with time as multidimensional to think of LGBTQI+ justice in a non-linear fashion.

Populism and Gamestop

Friday 4th of February 7pm, D/L/006

Organised by a group of students, this is another interesting-sounding event on populism. This session is going to outline Laclau’s theory of populism and then speak of the detection of such populist identity through decades of neoliberalism.

Call for papers for Undergraduate PSA Conference:

If you haven’t submitted a paper yet, there is still time. Running alongside the PSA 2022 Annual Conference in York (!), the PSA’s UG Conference is open for paper submissions

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 25 February 2022 (check out ‘How to submit a proposal’)
