Dr Xing Zhao is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the School of Physics,
Engineering and Technology at the University of York, where he leads the Electrical
Engineering stream. His research interests span power electronics, electrical
machines, and artificial intelligence (AI), with a strong emphasis on industry
collaboration in transportation electrification and renewable energy systems.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK, a Senior Member of IEEE, and
a Member of EPSRC Peer Review College. He has published over 100 papers,
primarily in leading international journals. He serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE
Transactions on Transportation Electrification and IEEE Transactions on Energy
Conversion, and a Session Chair for leading conferences including IEEE ICEMS,
INTERMAG and IECON.
Prior to joining the University of York, he was an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Electrical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University,
Hong Kong SAR, and a Research Associate at the Centre for Advanced Power
Systems, Florida State University, USA. He received his BEng degree from Nanjing
University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2014, and his MPhil and PhD degrees
from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020, all in Electrical Engineering.
