Joanne Topping

Jo is a Senior Research Technician in the laboratory of Dr Darren Goffin. Their current research examines the molecular and neurophysiological basis of symptom manifestation in the devastating autism spectrum disorder, Rett syndrome. Jo studied for her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Sheffield, before completing a Masters in Neuroscience at Kings College London. She has since worked in neuroscience research, on Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, and Cancer research in London. She has recently moved to the University of York to work on Rett Syndrome in Darren Goffin’s lab. Outside of work Jo loves travelling and outdoor sports and spending time with friends, family and a variety of pets.
