Tim Barber (trumpet)

Tim Barber was born in Worcestershire in 1981 and took up the trumpet at the age of 12. He graduated from the RNCM in 2004. During his time at college Tim was invited to tour with the European Union Youth Orchestra and was awarded a PPRNCM with distinction.

Tim now works regularly with such ensembles as the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Opera North, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, London Contemporary Orchestra and Manchester Camerata, touring throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia and appearing regularly at the BBC Proms. He has worked with artists as diverse as Elbow (including 2008 Mercury Music prize winner 'The Seldom Seen Kid' and the 2012 Olympic Theme), Nero, The XX, Bryn Terfyll, Leslie Garrett and Katherine Jenkins and on TV adverts including McDonalds and Sainsbury’s. An active chamber musician, Tim is a member of metropolitan Brass and has also been fortunate enough to perform regularly with Halle brass and as a soloist with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and Lancashire Sinfonietta. He has performed as a concerto soloist in venues such as St Johns Waterloo and the Stephaniensaal, Graz.
