Tim Barber (trumpet)

Tim Barber was born in Worcestershire in 1981. He graduated from the RNCM in 2004, having been invited to tour with the European Union Youth Orchestra and awarded a PPRNCM with distinction.

Tim now works regularly with such ensembles as the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, Ulster Orchestra, Welsh National Opera and London Contemporary Orchestra. Touring throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia and appearing regularly at the BBC Proms. He has worked with artists as diverse as Elbow (including 2008 Mercury Music prize winner 'The Seldom Seen Kid' and the 2012 Olympic Theme), The 1975, The XX, Bryn Terfyll, Lesley Garrett and Katherine Jenkins.

An active chamber musician, Tim is a member of metropolitan Brass and has also been fortunate enough to perform regularly with Halle brass and as a soloist with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and Lancashire Sinfonietta. He has performed as a concerto soloist in venues such as St Johns Waterloo and the Stephaniensaal, Graz.

Tim is a Trumpet tutor at the JRNCM and the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and is a chamber music tutor at the RNCM.
