Ziyun Fan
Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Organization Studies



Ziyun joined the York Management School as Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Organization Studies in September 2021. Prior to that, she was a lecturer in Organization Studies in Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, where she led the research interest group ‘critical perspectives in management studies’.
Ziyun has a BA (Hons) in International Business Management from the University of Nottingham and an MA in Management and Organizational Analysis from the University of Warwick. She obtained her PhD in Management (specializes in Organization Studies) from Royal Holloway, University of London in September 2018.



Ziyun’s research interests have a sociological and historical focus and draw on qualitative and ethnographic approaches. She is fascinated by the ‘irregularities’ and ‘peculiarities’ in our everyday organizational life and has explored topics such as organizational secrecy, (confidential) gossip, silence, and temporality.
