York lecturer has had her work published in the Church Times

Dr Emma Wells discusses the debate around historical architecture verses liturgical fashion.

Dr Emma Wells, an associate lecturer in Parish Church Studies (Centre for Lifelong Learning) has had her article, Heritage and mission are not in conflict, published in the Church Times.

The article looks at the common debate about historical architecture verses liturgical fashion which was revisited last month when the Diocesan Chancellor of Gloucester, the Worshipful June Rogers, criticised “middle-class churchgoers” for being “obsessed with architectural heritage”. 

Dr Emma says:

"Those who seek to preserve church buildings are not simply driven by petty obsessions"
