Channel 5 historical consultant role

Dr David Turner, Programme Director for the University of York's Postgraduate Dipolma in Railway Studies, was the historical consultant for a new two-part series about the Flying Scotsman for Channel 5.
During her lifetime, the Flying Scotsman broke records, travelled the world, became the subject of a film, and even bankrupted her owners. The two-part documentary addresses questions surrounding why the infamous train inspired such affection among steam fans? And why, almost a century after coming into service, does she still attract huge crowds wherever she goes?
