The brilliance of Dylan’s poetry has finally been established with the highest accolade in literature: the Nobel Prize. The award recognises the aesthetic and poetic qualities of Dylan’s lyrics, which resonate with symbolism, allusion and wit. Each seminar will cover an era of Dylan’s development as an artist, examining the historical, political and personal contexts of the lyrics, and the critical reception of the albums. We will also explore how Dylan’s musical settings affect the interpretation of the poetry.
