Tuesday 23 January 2024, 7.00PM to 9.00pm
Speaker(s): Simone Chisena BA MSc AFHEA
Four hundred centuries ago, the very first of our ancestors reached Europe. Trapped in the cold embrace of the late Ice Age, this land seemed the worst place for a new species to flourish; yet, it was in this environment that we thrived, developed, and cast the seed of what was to become civilisation. How did we achieve this? What were the skills that allowed us to conquer Europe and its hostile environment? During the course, we will look at what the archaeological record can reveal about this, and how much we can reconstruct of the lives of the very first human Europeans.
