Speaker(s): Cristina Figueredo BA MA PhD
York Minster houses a wealth of medieval glass in situ. This day-course will study the windows glazed in the fifteenth century. It will study the Great East Window, the largest expanse of medieval stained and painted glass in the country, with its 311 stained glass panels. The genius of the window’s creator, John Thornton of Coventry, will also be explored through studying the St William’s Window. Finally, the St Cuthbert Window will be explored to assess the influence that John Thornton exercised over subsequent glaziers in the city of York.
