Speaker(s): Cristina Figueredo BA MA PhD
The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. Although most of the scenes convey events which are relatively straightforward to construe, there have been difficulties in interpreting part of the story; in addition, some characters have not been identified and actions do not appear to correspond to the narrative. By ‘reading’ the tapestry scene by scene, this day-course aims to examine both the story narrated and the anomalies found in this remarkable artefact.
