This course explores the techniques of telling stories in correspondence-based and journal form. From the classic Dracula to Bridget Jones' Diary to tales told through email exchanges and Facebook posts, this course explores the creative opportunities available to the writer in telling their story through their characters' communications. Techniques will be identified through discussions of existing literature, and practised through writing exercises and in-class workshops where students will be able to share feedback on each other's work.
