What would the Middle Ages Do? Medieval Perspectives on Modern Problems

Tuesday 11 October 2022, 7.00PM to 9:00pm

Speaker(s): Emmie Rose Price-Goodfellow BA MA

Many issues of modern debate - charity, money, gender relations, sex, LGBTQ rights, faith and the supernatural - were thought about extensively in the Middle Ages. In this course, you will be introduced to the medieval world through these issues, as they appear in miracle stories, legal records, chronicles and more. Together, we will explore the culture of the Middle Ages, think about the medieval roots of our views, and reflect on what medieval ideas can teach us about modern controversies.
